Improving Practitioner Training Evaluation Techniques
This paper explores evaluation techniques commonly used by instructional designers and social science researchers, as a way of improving behavioral change evaluation measurement. Retrospective assessments and survey methodology can be incorporated into behavioral assessments, satisfaction/reaction surveys, and learning assessments in order to better evaluation content internalization.
This research paper was written as part of independent study for UMBC's Masters in Instructional Systems Development.

Context
Evaluations are often less than effective in determining knowledge retention and behavior change. Common evaluation types, such as satisfaction surveys and pre/post tests, speak little to internalization of the content.
Action
This research explores innovative methods for improving behavior change evaluations. Specifically, techniques used by instructional designers and social science researchers provided a starting point for implementing more effective evaluation techniques.
Results
Use of retrospective assessments and survey methodology are proposed as techniques for improving behavior evaluations. Recommendations are proposed for incorporating these techniques into behavioral assessments, satisfaction/reaction surveys, and learning assessments.
