Context

This guide was first developed out of the COVID-19 transition to online learning. The client identified that many instructors had only taught in-person, making the transition to online learning a new experience, and requiring standards be set to create a cohesive learning experience for students. One round of edits has been made since that time (March 2025) to keep instructors apprised of new and changing features within the University's LMS.

Action

After meeting with the client to determine the top needs of the guide, I conducted independent research on best practices for online instruction, recommendations based on research and the client's requests. I also developed step-by-step instructions for building out course spaces in Canvas Instructure LMS. This was compiled into a guide using Canva. Associated wiki-pages were also developed within the client's internal resource hub.

Results

This guide had been provided to the client as a downloadable PDF file. The guide is also available on the client's internal resource hub where instructors may access the guide in full, or navigate to specific topics.
